Origin
Four hundred years ago, this was once the land of the Ketagalan people.
The Center is set up in Peitou, because 400 years ago, this used to be the traditional territory of the Ketagalan people. The word“Ketagalan” represents the totem symbol of the plains aborigines, and it also has a broad meaning denoting “indigenous people”.
Construction
The Ketagalan Culture Center is the first in this country for building a center with the main theme of indigenous peoples, culture, and arts, and also for the use of indigenous education and training.
The Taipei City Government had the goal of preserving and promoting indigenous arts and culture. After years of negotiation by many sides, the Indigenous Peoples Commission of the Taipei City Government decided to build the Center on the site of an old military police headquarters, located on the northside of the Peitou Hot Spring Park on Chungshan Road.
Inauguration
The Ketagalan Culture Center is an important place for sustaining the culture, language, history, and arts of city’s indigenous peoples.
Objectives of the Center

˙Main theme is on development and training of cultural skills, language education,on-line information, and cultural arts.
