Taiwan
An island of mere 36,000 square kilometers
A spectacular landscape by the Creator
Wonderful creation of high mountains, rugged peaks, lakes and streams, verdant forests
Also the broad plains, the interlocking of ocean and land
It had nurtured more than 12 different Taiwan indigenous peoples
Atayal, Saisiyat, Thao, Bunun, Tsou, Rukai, Paiwan, Puyuma, Tao, Amis, Kavalan, Truku
And there are numerous other indigenous people groups, who had followed the
guidance and admonition of the ancestors, and had con-existed on this land for many thousands of years
Taiwan indigenous peoples
Give thanks to the Creator and commemorate the ancestors with ritual celebrations
Revere the forest and mountains with protected territory
Telling the tales of ancestor’s wisdom, through the passage of aboriginal history
Allow us with the heart of humbleness
Together we enter the mythology world of Taiwan indigenous peoples
The Ketagalan Culture Center is built to fulfill the national policy in the recognition of Taiwan’s multicultural make-up. It is to promote living education for children, and to motivate their cultural identity and understanding of other cultures. The Center has planned a series of guided tours on traditional indigenous culture for school children, introducing the wisdom of the aboriginal ancestors, and to pass them on to the next generation.
